Monday – August 6, 2012 : The province of Cebu is celebrating its annual charter day anniversary. Since the day falls on Monday, it is a special nonworking holiday in the entire Cebu, with the inclusion of the following highly-urbanized cities: Cebu City, Danao, Lapulapu, Mandaue, and Toledo.
By virtue of Republic Act 7698, we Cebuanos commemorate the provincial foundation day August 6 of every year which became a law in August 2000. Further, as noted by Sun.Star Cebu noted last year that August 6 became the foundation day of Cebu because of a resolution approved by its Provincial Board in 1993.
Below is a copy of the Republic Act No. 8952.
